DJ Barry "Scratchy" Myers once said of the music he played while on tour with the Clash, “I was playing punk rock from the Ramones to the Pistols, Iggy and the Dolls to the MC5, reggae and ska, r’n’b and rockabilly and ‘60s soul. It was attitude music.” Under The Big Black Sun is an exploration of that music, following the threads of influence up through today. Both a reference to the record by another stylistically well-informed punk band, X, and the idea that anything under the sun is worth exploring when you look beyond what's immediately presented to you.
