Today is the launch of WAYO's annual fundraising campaign which is taking place at https://donate.wayofm.org! WAYO has established itself as a source for inventive and engaging programming as well as an amplifier for arts & culture in Rochester. It is hard to remember a time when WAYO didn't exist. We need your support to make sure WAYO continues through 2018 and beyond!
Well, it's been a few days since the campaign ended and we here at WAYO are just now catching our breath. As you know, with your help we hit our funding goal and then some with a final tally of $17,702! That's an impressive amount that will keep WAYO operating for the remainder of 2017 AND give us the option of investing in some additional equipment this year. So, from all of us at the station, a resounding THANK YOU!!
Wowee!! Thanks to your help, we are now 75% funded with just 6 days left in our campaign. If we can keep this pace up, we'll reach our $16,000 goal with time to spare and you will have ensured that WAYO will continue to broadcast throughout 2017.

What's new in the world of WAYO you may ask? Today is the official launch of our 2016 Kickstarter fundraising campaign! This is a big time of the year for us as the outcome of the campaign ensures the station's financial stability as we enter our second year of broadcasting. Low power is a special class of radio that is inherently noncommercial and intended to come out of and be responsive to a specific community. WAYO embodies the spirit of low power - we’re a totally grassroots-funded station with 140 volunteers from the Rochester area, and we provide a platform for regional creativity where community members can share their art, music, writing, and more.

With your support we have surpassed our Kickstarter goal of $16,000. The Kickstarter campaign ended at midnight with $17,260. In addition to the proceeds from the Kickstarter campaign, we raised $1,521 from a week of pop-up fundraisers around Rochester that included a clothing swap, concerts, and an open house.

After three weeks of programmer training and fine tuning of station equipment and procedures, WAYO invites the community to listen live via its online streaming starting at 7 pm on Monday, November 30. Listen live by clicking, well, the “LISTEN LIVE” button at the top of this and all the WAYO website pages! You can also tune in via the TuneIn Radio app—download it for free and search “WAYO.” While there will still be hiccups, goofs, and fixes, this is an incredibly exciting new phase for the station!!!
