WAYO needs your financial support to operate in 2017.

What's new in the world of WAYO you may ask? Today is the official launch of our 2016 Kickstarter fundraising campaign! This is a big time of the year for us as the outcome of the campaign ensures the station's financial stability as we enter our second year of broadcasting. Keep reading to find out more about the Kickstarter campaign and other way-out updates.

Help keep the creativity and ideas of the Rochester community on the radio.

WAYO has launched our annual fundraising campaign running through January 8th. The money raised during this campaign will go towards essential costs such as rent, utilities, and insurance as well as necessary equipment upgrades.

Exciting perks are available for donors at all levels including pins, stickers, shirts, a record bag, a mug, a CD compilation of live in-studio performances, and a 7” featuring two new songs by Golden. In addition to the campaign, look out for a series of events scheduled throughout the month starting with a kick-off live broadcast event at The Bop Shop on Black Friday. We invite you to visit wayofm.org/kickstarter for more information.

This campaign is the culmination of an incredible year for the station and will be a validation of the special thing we've created. Thanks for all you do and let's get out there and make sure we have a bright financial future heading into 2017!

Upcoming Events

Keep an eye out for our upcoming events throughout December & January!

The Black Friday event at the Bop Shop and Saturday's "Friendsgiving" comedy show at the South Wedge Mission were both a success! Thanks to all who helped out. We have some exciting events coming up in the next couple weeks:

  • 12/11, 4 p.m.: we are sponsoring a screening of Sex and Broadcasting, a documentary about WFMU--a long-running freeform station located in Jersey City, NJ that was an enormous inspiration on WAYO. The screening will take place at the Cinema and admission is a recommended donation of $10. Here's the FB event page: https://www.facebook.com/events/1824892741084134/
  • 12/16, 7 p.m.: we are turning the WAYO performance area into a dance floor during that night's installment of Friday Night Dance Party (7--9 p.m.). At 9 p.m., the party moves over to the studio of our neighbors ROC Kizomba! FB event page at: https://www.facebook.com/events/200602863729499/
  • 1/7: Save the date! WAYO Anniversary party, location & time TBD
