WAYO is a free-form, low-power station in Rochester, NY providing diverse and idiosyncratic arts and cultural programming. Radio broadcasting started on January 4, 2016. Its signal range covers a large part of city of Rochester and inner ring suburbs. The broadcast is also available online on this website as well as on the TuneIn Radio app.
WAYO began under the auspices of the Multi-Use Community Cultural Center (MuCCC), but now operates as an independent entity, WAYO Radio Inc, an IRS 501c3 non-profit organization. The MuCCC is a venue for live performance with a special focus on race, gender, ethnicity, and underserved performing artists in the Rochester community. The MuCCC currently holds the FCC license while we transition the license to WAYO Radio Inc. To learn more about the MuCCC, please visit muccc.org.
The founding of WAYO was also greatly helped by the Prometheus Radio Project through their Torchbearer Program. To learn more about the Prometheus Radio Project, please visit prometheusradio.org.
