Travel back in time with me once again, this time to the year 1995; a banner year for the resurgence of surf music. It's likely no coincidence that Pulp Fiction was released only one year earlier (is it crazy that I've never seen it?). For me personally, I was 18 years old and just graduating High School. Surf music had been in my life since childhood thanks to my parents record collection and the Beach movies of Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello. It made its way back to the forefront of my collection thanks to the used CD stores that started popping up (Food for Other Fish by The Mermen was my first find) the advent of digital downloads, and websites that opened up record labels entire catalogues to people across the globe, accessing new music was becoming easier than ever before. Some of these artists made their debut and others were really hitting their stride. Let's explore the surf and instro of 1995 together!
