The Wreesome Island Survivals

The excavation of the Wreesome Island Survivals on the desolate island of Emptee Sla is without question the most important archeological discovery of our time, uncovering a 900 year old island civilization known as Wreesome. Now, thanks to the work of the Imperma Research Institute at Lunda Yuni, the stories captured in the Survivals can be transmitted across Perma.

The Institute is proud to launch The Wreesome Island Survivals series as a presentation of the narratives from the archive as new sections are extracted, translated into Permean, and understood. Hosted by renowned Imperma scholar Dr. Lo Swell, each episode portrays a selection from the catalog’s more than 876,000 text objects in their intended oral format.

Past Episodes

In this final episode of Cycle 2: “Put Me In, Coach,” Bea Winna, abandoned in the desolate Anada Fields as winter sets in, finds her way to Wreesome Island with help from an unlikely friend.

  • Episode 6, Cycle 2: "Put Me In, Coach" Aired: Saturday, May 7, 2016

Enclosed in the Wreesomer “story box,” Bea Winna’s interview with the Blurry Prebyr continues and we learn why she was cast out by Coach: she was the last to give birth on the Team. The Blurry Presbyr speaks to Bea through a metallic tube that takes his voice onto the enclosed platform where the Teller–in this case, Bea–stands. She can’t see her interviewer, but tells her story in the hope that it will convince whoever he is to allow her to stay on the island.

  • Ep. 5, Cycle 2: "Put Me In, Coach" Aired: Monday, February 29, 2016

Drs. Swell and Werto introduce a reading from the Survivals that tells the story of Bea Winna. Her tale about life, and ultimate failure, as a “cheerlie” under the instructive watch of Coach offers a look into one “micro” during High Imperma. A micro is one of the diverse micro-cultures that flourished following the close of Ole-perma. Bea’s narrative continues over the next two episodes.

  • Ep. 4, Cycle 2: "Put Me In, Coach" Aired: Monday, February 15, 2016

In this first episode of Cycle 2, Drs. Swell and Werto receive a special, though last minute, visit from Loria Mushda, Occupant of Oversee House. She brings with her a letter written by a little girl who lives in a distant settlement in Perma. Dr. Swell answers the girl’s question about what happened to the people of Ole-perma (“Did they eat themselves all up?”) with the story of the Fat Fool Annollo.
