On today's show, I talk with poet and translator Lytton Smith. We discuss his experience as a translator, the effect of translation on his poetry, and the different philosophies with translation. Lytton also talks about his writing projects, current poetry interests, and more.
About Lytton Smith:
Lytton Smith is the author of two books of poetry from Nightboat Books, While You Were Approaching the Spectacle But Before You Were Transformed by It (2013) and The All-Purpose Magical Tent (2009), and the translator of several contemporary Icelandic novels by Jón Gnarr, Bragi Ólafsson and Kristín Ómarsdóttir. He is an Assistant Professor of English and Creative Writing at SUNY Geneseo.
