Young Writers Speak: Voices from the Governor's Institute of Vermont's Young Writers Program

A poetry reading featuring the students of the Young Writers program through the Governor's Institute of Vermont. Incredibly grateful to spend a week working with these talented students. A special thanks to the Governor's Institute of Vermont and the Bennington Writing Seminars for helping to make this happen.

About the Governor's Institute of Vermont:

The Governor’s Institutes of Vermont provides prestigious, fun, accelerated learning residencies on college campuses for highly-motivated Vermont teenagers. While each Institute is unique, they share some similarities: they’re all residential, so you live on a college campus and have access to all the resources the college provides – from state-of-the-art labs to studios; they’re all hands-on intense bursts of learning and fun, where you and your new friends who share your interests explore topics in-depth with leading professionals in the field; they’re a chance to try something new, make lasting memories with new friends, and learn more than you can imagine!

About the Bennington Writing Seminars:

Steeped in the College's prestigious literary tradition, Bennington's Master of Fine Arts in Writing is consistently named one of the top low-residency programs. Founded in 1994, Bennington's Writing Seminars was one of the first low-residency graduate writing programs in the country. During this two-year, low-residency program, students commit as much to reading as to writing and conceive reading lists that strengthen and broaden their knowledge. All this with the expert guidance of authors who, throughout their individualized instruction, become familiar with and develop a stake in their work.
