The Porch

One solid hour of music to get you mentally prepared for whatever the day may bring.  It's music for coffee.  Music for dogs.  Music for sitting out back or driving to work or decompressing BEFORE the meeting you're about to have.  Rock, folks, bluegrass, beats, old country, psychedelic...might even throw in a news blurb and some weather in case you're not near a window.  Stuff you'll know, stuff you won't.  Join us every Friday!  To contact us, email us at theporchwayo@gmail.com, or find us on Twitter: porch_radio.

Past Episodes

  • Episode 666: The One With the Anomaly Crew Aired: Friday, September 27, 2019

I don't know where I got September 30th from.  This wasn't the 30th.  Have I bent space and time?

Some of the gang from the Anomaly Film Festival came by and luckily I had all this coffee lying around.  So we drank some and talked about movies and played music and it was a great time.  Listen to the episode.  I can't do it justice with a paragraph of exposition.

  • It Was Hot on July 19th Aired: Friday, July 19, 2019

Hot weather music.  Is all music hot weather?  Do Christmas carols count?

  • Episode 50: The one where I add a number to the show title Aired: Friday, June 21, 2019

Is it the 50th show?  Can we count the one-offs I did by subbing for other dj's?  Does it matter?  Here's a bunch of tunes that make me think of lounging outside on my back patio which really needs to have some work done to it.  It's a mess.  The patio, not the show -- although you could argue either way on that one.

  • June 7 2019 Aired: Friday, June 7, 2019

It's June! The weather's getting nicer, the music's getting sunnier, and we're all getting sunburn in odd places due to poor distribution. Sandal tans! This week I bust out with a variety of gems, including a funky Beatles cover from The Brothers Johnson. I'm fighting spiders in my basement bathroom, and the world is eating more plastic than it realizes.

  • April 5, 2019 : A Big Ol' Morning Casserole of Music Aired: Friday, April 5, 2019

Just a hodgepodge of musics.  You ever drink really good coffee, and then you drink drive-thru coffee, and it tastes horrible, to the point where you're wondering if it's you or the coffee?  Have I become that snobbish?  Do places need to step their game up?  I didn't even discuss this during the show, it's just occurring to me now.  Tweet to me at porch_radio and let's figure this out.

  • March 1, 2019 : Be Aware of the Vibes of March! Aired: Friday, March 1, 2019

The first day of March, and we're still getting snow here in Western NY. No worries, got some hot musics for your ears. I don't care how great the coffee is, don't skimp on your to-go cup budget. I know, I should have brought a reusable one, but I forgot it, and the lid won't stay on this damn thing. Do you want me to spill a $4 coffee? Is that ethically responsible?

  • February 22, 2019 : Peter Tork, the Mall, Two Cups of Coffee Aired: Friday, February 22, 2019

Another caffeinated show where we talk about Peter Tork and the Monkees, and then later discuss how weird it is to go to a mall these days (and how shopping online is a little bit better). I didn't know Mick Jagger sang backing vocals for Carly Simon! Learning is fun.

  • January 25, 2019 : Jeana! Aired: Friday, January 25, 2019

A historically relevant episode this week, as I introduce my first guest ever on the show: local artist and good friend Jeana Bonacci-Roth! We talk about the 90s in downtown Rochester's pseudo-bohemian district, dogs, coffee, and building bridges versus building walls. Plus some classic 80s music for you to enjoy. Get some!

  • January 18, 2019 : The coffee episode! Aired: Friday, January 18, 2019

The coffee episode! This week you get a full hour of songs about coffee, songs with coffee in the title...coffee. It's romanticized, it's worshipped, it's correlated with love. Tracks from the Jayhawks, the Ink Spots, Ani DiFranco, Prince, and many others. Drink up!

  • January 11, 2019 Aired: Friday, January 11, 2019

It's the first major snowfall of 2019 in Rochester. We look at our city's overlooked connection to @AOC dancing on a roof. Music from Phoenix, West End Motel, Grateful Dead, Jr Thomas & The Volcanos, Red Elvises, and more!
