Start of the Bo Diddley Beat was an instrument called the hambone, which you make with a hook on the side of your shack and a piece of old washline cord. You play it by varying the tension and the force of your plucks, letting the cord whap the side of the house to time out a beat to your yodelin'. Of course, you do this when your momma ain't home.
