Music Therapy

We all find our outlets in different ways. Some people work out, others drink heavily. I get my weekly dose of therapy by playing some of my favorite music for you for two hours a week.

Tune in for an hour of indie-rock, indie-pop, and associated genres. Then it's emo f. If you're not familiar with either, we'll explore a variety of the styles that fit into those two genres, from quiet and folky to airy and atmospheric to loud and aggressive.

  • Music Therapy - December 5, 2017: Covers (Part 2 of 2) Aired: Tuesday, December 5, 2017

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, imagine how it feels to have a band cover one of your songs? I love cover songs. But if a band is just going to do a note-for-note remake of the original, where's the fun in that? No, a good cover has to be a unique take on the original song. The band has to put its own spin on the original, make it something new. It should be familiar but unique, all at once. That's what we are featuring in this week's awesome covers show!

  • Music Therapy - November 28, 2017: Guilty (Part 2 of 2) Aired: Tuesday, November 28, 2017

I'm feeling guilty for overindulging during the holiday week last week. So that got me thinking about guilt and music...and thus guilty pleasures! Those are songs that perhaps I should not like as much as I do. And then there's guilty "displeasures", or songs/bands that I don't like as much as I probably should. Let's explore the fringes of my musical taste this week!

  • Music Therapy - November 14, 2017: Fun and Games (Part 2 of 2) Aired: Tuesday, November 14, 2017

I've been binging on the latest season of Stranger Things, and besides all the creepy lizard monsters, I've most enjoyed the nostalgia of games! Remember when the best days were spent in an arcade, and it was nearly as fun to watch your friend play as to play yourself? Remember playing board games late into the night? This week's show is all about fun and games!

It's Halloween night, and I'm reminiscing of Halloweens long past, when I walked the streets incognito, begging for chocolate and promising terror in retribution for not getting my candy-coated desires. We're doing both tricks and treats this evening on Music Therapy. An hour of each to put the weenie in your Halloween!

  • Music Therapy - November 7, 2017: Q&A 2 (Part 1 of 2) Aired: Tuesday, November 7, 2017

I've been questioning a lot of things lately, especially in light of horrible news all the time. So this is the second installment of the question and answer show on Music Therapy. One song is a question, another is the answer. We all need more answers, and if you can't find them in rock music, where can you look?
