Music Therapy

We all find our outlets in different ways. Some people work out, others drink heavily. I get my weekly dose of therapy by playing some of my favorite music for you for two hours a week.

Tune in for an hour of indie-rock, indie-pop, and associated genres. Then it's emo f. If you're not familiar with either, we'll explore a variety of the styles that fit into those two genres, from quiet and folky to airy and atmospheric to loud and aggressive.

View weekly playlists, discuss the mood, and interact with me at the Music Therapy Facebook page: www.facebook.com/musictherapyWAYO

  • Music Therapy - August 22, 2017: Q&A (Part 2 of 2) Aired: Tuesday, August 22, 2017

Do you like music? Do you like music on the radio? Do you like Music Therapy? Do you like answers to questions? Sure you do! We're doing an entire indie rock show of questions and answers this week! How's that work, you ask? One song is a question, another song posits an answer. It's that simple. Quirky little gimmick, but fun!

  • Music Therapy - August 15, 2017: Eclipse (Part 1 of 2) Aired: Tuesday, August 15, 2017

The full solar eclipse in August is visible in the United States for the first time in many years. For some, an eclipse is a forebearer of disaster and distress. But, come on, what could go wrong these days? I choose to believe the sun is just hiding from all the craziness, and who can blame it. This week's show is in honor of the sun and missing it...a little.

  • Music Therapy - August 8, 2017: Lost/Found (Part 1 of 2) Aired: Tuesday, August 8, 2017

Last week, I was feeling adrift, bouncing on the seas without a paddle. This week, I'm feeling downright lost. So I'm trying to embrace the feeling of being lost and find myself. This week's songs are all about that universal feeling of being lost...and then - hopefully - being found again.

  • Music Therapy - August 1, 2017: Adrift (Part 2 of 2) Aired: Tuesday, August 1, 2017

With some of my major accomplishments and most anticipated activities this summer now long gone, I've been feeling a bit aimless lately. I guess you could say I'm adrift, looking for a paddle to steer my boat. It's an odd feeling, being adrift in the middle of a summertime routine. So in honor of this mood, we're doing all songs about being on the great ocean!

  • Music Therapy - July 25, 2017: Mathy (Part 1 of 2) Aired: Tuesday, July 25, 2017

I'm not the biggest fan of math. Sure, it's one of those things you can study and regurgitate, but once numbers got replaced with letters in school, I lost all interest. I was more interested in words, which I could make do anything I want. But there's an interesting intersection between math and rock that lies in the sub-genre of math-rock. And I felt like exploring that this week! So I'm going to calculate the odds that you know any of these bands and hope you learn something new!
