  • Episode 227: Snow Day DJ Aired: Wednesday, March 15, 2017

Well, it's another weather emergency in Rochester, NY and you know we're brave, Space Cadets. We marched on through that wind for y'all last week and we were glad to do it! BUT---this snow. Come on.... it's still falling. I can't open my door to get out of the house. It's too much! So, in light of that fun fact, it's a little SoT Snow Day DJ mix for you! Are all the songs about weather? No, but that would have been a good theme. Is there a theme at all, really? Nope. Coulda thought of one but didn't! What's up with me and "No Conclusion"? Your guess is as good as mine.... Anyhow.

  • Episode 226: Smug Aired: Wednesday, March 8, 2017

Everyone knows it's windy! After braving the weather emergency and the fear of going airborne instead of on the air, we're at it again with an all new Sound of Tomorrow! Today we're being smug (is that different from any other day) and talking about moral outrage! After the music break, we're back to make fun of some food scientists who probably have a few good points but tend toward hyperbole and we wrap it up with a discussing of people who need people... maybe a little bit too much. But honest--that one person we both knew? He really did need waaaaay too much.

  • Episode 225: Conditioning Aired: Wednesday, March 1, 2017

That's right, Space Cadets, Ross Johnson, Your Favorite Co-Host, and Heather Zajkowski, The Babe with the Power are back in the WAYO studios for another exciting episode of the Sound of Tomorrow! They're talking about things they should have given CWs and TWs for but didn't! Because they're jerks! CW: TW: On a more serious note, we're talking a bit about how women are socialized and conditioned in society and how this conditioning can have negative, hurtful, and sometimes confusing results in the aftermath of a trauma or even in everyday life.

  • Episode 224: Malcolm Whitfield! Aired: Wednesday, February 22, 2017

I know, I know.... I was supposed to call this episode "Episode 224: Ross Has a Tiny Tiny Bladder." But we almost always name shows with guests after the guests! Because I'm lazy and it totally works! So--needless to say, this is a fun fun one today because we are joined in the studio by the one and only Malcolm Whitfield (www.malcolmwhitfield.com, if he's remembered to pay SquareSpace after all)!

  • Episode 223: Procrastination Nation Aired: Wednesday, February 15, 2017

We have a jam-packed and fun-filled show for you today, Space Cadets! After an impromptu discussion of gh-gh-gh-gh-ghosts, we're diving right into the SoT Book Club! The first selection we'll be reading is Binti by Nnedi Okorafor. We plan to discuss the book in about a month and, if you're in the Rochester area (or want to fly in to see us), we'd love to have you join us at the studio for our first session! Interested? Drop us a line at jimmyspaceboy@gmail.com.

  • Episode 222: Shocking! Aired: Wednesday, February 8, 2017

Not to shock you or anything, Space Cadets, but we kind of want to shock you! Not metaphorically. Like, literally. With electricity. But only because an authority figure told us to do it! Hey, nah, we're just kidding. In today's actually not very shocking Sound of Tomorrow, Heather's got a high pony and Ross is wearing eight shirts and a cute brooch! Plus, psychology today (and in the past), budgeting tips, and a wee bit o' Sot Book Club stuff! Tune in for the politics, stay for the penny savers; you won't want to miss one single word!

  • Episode 221: Gaslighting a Sealion Aired: Wednesday, February 1, 2017

In this exciting episode, Heather finally gets her segment on words! They may be different words than she'd originally intended (Are those notes lost to history? Find out on a future Sound of Tomorrow) but today she and Ross are talking lying, gaslighting, and sealioning. Plus books!

    Goooooo sports!

Music today from They Might Be Giants with "The Cap'm."

  • Episode 220: Punching Nazis Aired: Wednesday, January 25, 2017

Space Cadets! Someone left a ukulele at the WAYO office and Heather is not afraid to play it! Ross is, however, afraid she may steal it. To reassure you, she did not. The uke is tuned and back on the shelf. But that doesn't mean mean we're good people! But we're not that bad, either.

  • Episode 219: Cruisin' Aired: Wednesday, January 18, 2017

Ahh, Ross is back in the studio and all is right with the world! We're kicking it off with some vacation chat about the fantastic Star Trek cruise he and Announcer Mike attended and we segue into an interesting and disturbing discussion of Ross's interaction with a not-so-cool Trekkie (his word, not mine. I know to say Trekker!). After the break, we're back to discuss the benefits of diversity in groups. There are lots of benefits, turns out! Makes perfect sense, really.... And we close it up with a quick quiz of my (hi--Heather typing here) vitamin supplement knowledge which is....

  • Episode 218: DJ Blackstar Aired: Wednesday, January 11, 2017

While Ross and Mike have Star Trek adventures on the high seas, DJHZ is at it again, doing what she loves best.... dancing and crying.

January 10th was a day I remained blissfully ignorant of David Bowie's passing. Being on the east coast, I only learned of it on the 11th. In honor of that horrible, heart-wrenching day, I'm bringing you Bowie, Bowie, Bowie.... and some other stuff, too. Thanks for indulging me, Space Cadets.
