Past Episodes

  • Episode 355: Lazy Aired: Wednesday, September 4, 2019

Nah... laziness isn't even a thing! Quit being so judgey! Leave that up to us, the profession Liberal Weenies. Spoiler alert, yes, we're talking laziness in the second half of the show but not before we talk about that Analog Award thing (what? I'm posting this later than usual. I can't be expected to remember everything we talked about, jeesh!) a discuss an NPR listicle on 7 ways to get out of debt! Fun fact: don't believe credit card companies when they say interest rates are high to motivate us to pay them back more quickly; buncha liars.*

  • Episode 354: You Wanna Buy a Watch? Aired: Wednesday, August 28, 2019

Psst! Clank clank. That's right, your Radio Friends The Sound of Tomorrow are back for another hour of giggles and tomfoolery! After a brief Wildlife Talk with Ross and Heather, we're forging ahead with fake news. We were not rescued by the nice people who came in to find something they'd left in the studio so the music break was "Havana" by The Mabuses. After that? More friendship! And some commentary on masculinity.... Stay til the end to hear me start to panic when frat boys are mentioned! I had some bad experiences in college, y'all.

  • Episode 353: Pao De Queijo Aired: Wednesday, August 21, 2019

Mmmmm..... Brazilian cheese buns sure do sound good, don't they, Space Cadets? You know who will never know if they are? We won't!!! Because someone stole the tapioca flour (and the battery-operated Christmas candles) off my porch. That's right--HZ here hankering for a hunk of Pao De Queijo, forever unfulfilled. But there's joy and light! Because we're talking theft on today's new SoT but we're also talking friendship and books Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to send Ross a Snapchat of the cute thing Nigel is doing right now.

  • Episode 352: Silent Book Club Aired: Wednesday, August 14, 2019

Ain't no book club party like a silent book club party 'cause a silent book club party is SILENT! But not us.... no, on today's new Sound of Tomorrow, we're neither silent nor are we actually doing a book club! Instead, we're talking gratitude lists and their opposite! We're talking blue green algae (which isn't even algae at all)! We're talking boycotts! And maybe we're talking, just a little bit, cats!

Song of the day: "Fugitive Air" by Of Montreal.

  • Episode 351: Pizza Party Aired: Wednesday, August 7, 2019

It's a pretty cheesy show today, Space Cadets, but we got your all new Sound of Tomorrow right here! After the delicious skit, Heather tries to dive right in but Ross demands a quick Nigel Tale! He soon regrets it, though, so we're off on the topic of anxiety and metal illness. After the TMGB DAS duo, "Have this Thing" and "Spy" (the original Dial-A-Song demo version), we're back with historical women! Short and sweet, yeah? Now.... where's my pizza?

  • Episode 350: #NoTallMen Aired: Wednesday, July 31, 2019

Ok, Space Cadets---all y'all who have vaginas, please tell me: have you ever stored your license, credit card, and folded money in your vagina and, if so, how did you pay for your stuff at Target? That's right, it's an all new Sound of Tomorrow! Yes, we're talking about vaginas for too long, you say? Pish. After Vagina Chat with Heather and Ross, we're talking TREES! Then it's Aloha with "Summer Away" and we're talking Teen Drinking. Which reminds me, I am parched!

  • Episode 349: Claws Out Aired: Wednesday, July 24, 2019

Hey, everybody, we've got a banger of a show today for YOU! Kicking it off with, once again, oddly enough, elementary school memories and the casual racism of the 80s, we're moving into good news for kitties and a bit of a diatribe on "please, everyone, be kind to your pets and also get them spayed and neutered!" The TMBG DAS is "Road Movie To Berlin" from that time they played the album Flood live in Australia. And then we're back! And Heather is mad..... taking down the patriarchy one article at a time? Yes, she's trying. So die mad. Heather will.

    Cats!

  • Episode 348: I Remember Penfield Aired: Wednesday, July 17, 2019

Whoo-wee Space Cadets, are you ready for a.... show? Fun BTS fact: I wrote some of my grade school friends about "I Remember Penfield" last night and Leigh was able to fill in the last verse I'd forgotten. I remembered the first line and then it turned into "Puff the Magic Dragon." But don't worry! I still remember "I Like Being a Kid" in full. Somebody help me. Childhood trauma aside, in today's new SoT, we're talking anti-racism, we've got some Backlash early pages book discussion, and hey, Henrietta did a pretty nice thing, eh?

We got a jam-packed show today on ye olde SoT, Space Cadets! Kicking it off with some space news and annoying interjections about space noodz from your own HZ and segueing seamlessly (?) into talking about..... talking. Tell us about yourselves! JimmySpaceboy@gmail.com. After the TMBG DAS "It Was a Very Good Year" we're not procrastinating on discussing procrastination! And weeeeee will always love..... youuuuuuu!
