Past Episodes

  • Episode 326: Smooch Smooch Horsie Sauce Aired: Wednesday, February 13, 2019

It's Valentine's Day Eve and our hearts are warm but our fingers are icy.... because Rochester, NY is covered in ice. Sigh. BUT! That doesn't stop us from zipping through topics at a breakneck speed! We got period emojis! We got the last words of the Opportunity Rover and then we cry just a little bit again about it because we've already cried about it today! We got some Hot Picks! We're late on the middle break but it's "Sing You a Love You Song" by of Montreal and then we're back for... well, yeah, you know we can't just be lighthearted...

  • Episode 325: 7000 Hot Listeners Aired: Wednesday, February 6, 2019

Well well well, we're on the road to fame and fortune, finally!, on today's all new Sound of Tomorrow! After reveling in the great news about our big break. we're talking about.... a whole load of nonsense, to be honest. We brought topics, really, we did! But Ross talks about going to the doctor for a while and Heather may or may not have had xrays when she was a kid and oh dear.

  • Episode 324: Polishing Our Auras Aired: Wednesday, January 30, 2019

Hey, wow, it's cold in Rochester, NY and we're doing our level best to move our frozen jaws for you! In this week's show, we kick it off talking about the fun Drag Brunch we went to and then it's time for cheese. Ross fills in the last of the first segment talking about shows he's starred in and we're off to listen to "Coldest Day" by Madness. Because we can't just babble for the entire time, we're back for part 2 with trans youth studies and the new trend affecting women in the workplace. For the love of all that is holy, someone please make it less cold here! Please!

  • Episode 323: Our Feet Are Wet Aired: Wednesday, January 23, 2019

Yep. Before the show, our feet got wet. So we're cold and not thinking quite right! But nevertheless, it's a brand new Sound of Tomorrow! We kick it off talking about Heather's headshot gone awry (with unplanned social commentary!) and then we're on to talkin' 'bout things we've seen. But you know we couldn't ignore it so, before the slightly belated break, we managed not to call those MAGA sh!ts anything we can't say on the air. Yay us!

  • Episode 322: Virtue Signaling Aired: Wednesday, January 16, 2019

It's an icy day in Rochester, NY, but that doesn't stop us from being back with an all new Sound of Tomorrow! We kept on track, miraculously, with a discussion in the first half (ish) about virtue signaling and call-out culture and and clutter/TV talk in half (ish) two! Chris Fanning, I'll be right over to wake up those books for you!

Middle break was "What a Wonderful World" by Major Organ and the Adding Machine. Huzzah!

  • Episode 321: How the Radio Sausage Gets Made Aired: Wednesday, January 9, 2019

HZ here! In today's exciting episode, we're banging out of the gates with the unplanned topic of how Rochester has made the national news after a local meteorologist clearly and blatantly uttered a racial slur on live TV! For more on this, here's a link to Chris Thompson's blog post I mentioned: https://540westmain.org/2019/01/09/more-than-one-cockroach-guest-blog-by.... This springboards us into a tax discussion followed by more on PC Culture.

  • Episode 320: Happy 2019 Aired: Wednesday, January 2, 2019

It's a brand new year and the SoT is back in the studio at WAYO! Kicking it off talking about Heather's whacky party traditions and then moving into New Year's resolutions (whaaaaa? We made New Year's resolutions? Well, kind of.), there's a little blip of science news before it's time to hear Happy New Year, Baby by Jo Ann Campbell! We're back in time to talk about grudges for a bit and then Ross breaks his top-of-the-show resolution by bringing in politics. You know we can't help it!

  • Episode 319: Her Affected Voice Aired: Wednesday, December 26, 2018

Happy Boxing Day, Space Cadets! In this final SoT of 2018, we're talking about some feedback we (i.e., Heather) received, policing of women's voices, and internalized misogyny! So--business as usually, really. But we lighten it up at the end with a little RuPaul ReCap so all is not lost. Not yet! Happy new year and we'll be back in 2019 with more of the same old SoT nonsense you've grown to know and love! Or not..... <3

  • Episode 318: The 2018 Holiday Spectacular! Aired: Wednesday, December 19, 2018

Happy holidays, Space Cadets, from all of us here at The Sound of Tomorrow!

  • Episode 317: XMas DJHZ Aired: Wednesday, December 12, 2018

Happy Holidays, Space Cadets! As has happened in past years, we're not in the studio today because we're getting all decorated and finishing up the shopping for next week's big Sound of Tomorrow Holiday Spectacular! So, until then, please enjoy our gift to you: a special DJHZ holiday mix! CW: it gets a little maudlin. I'm so sorry. I guess it's just that sometimes *I* get a little maudlin! But y'all knew that already.
