After last week's very special John Linnell ep, Ross and Heather are back with the first official Sound of Tomorrow of 2020! And also, it's David Bowie's birthday or, well, this is the podcast so it was yesterday. And tomorrow is...... ok, well, we can keep our crying to ourselves, now, can't we (no, we can't.). BUT! Happy 2020! In this exciting episode, we're talking health news, Womanikins, New Year's resolutions (phweet!), and internet manipulation! Oh yeah.
Music break: "Dollar Days" by David Bowie, from his final album, Blackstar.
Space Cadets, we're kicking 2020 off right with today's episode! That's right--Ross is OOO this week so Heather is joined in the studio by her partner in all things TMBG, Woody Battaglia, to play yes, that's right, the recording of their interview with John Linnell of They Might Be Giants! As you might imagine, this interview was one of the best things that could ever happen to these two TMBG lifelong fans.
Happy holidays, Space Cadets! We'll see you in 2020.
While we're up recording some holly jollies for the SoT Holiday Extravaganza 2019, we're playing a little holiday time music for YOU! Disclaimer: this year's holiday mix included 89% fewer crying songs. Merry merry!
Wow, Space Cadets, it is COLD but the Sound of Tomorrow is on FIRE! Especially Ross which is why he's repeatedly trying to stuff Heather into a black plastic bag. In today's exciting episode, we're revisiting our baby podcaster days with a trip down memory lane! Very trendy, yes? After hearing The Cleaners From Venus with "Every Light In This House," we're back with another longer-than-expected HOT PICKS segment. Will we ever be warm again?
Here we are again, it's an all new Sound of Tomorrow! In this exciting episode, we're discussing Period Badges and Porch Pirates! Plus, of course, neighborhood pages online, what a nightmare! After a little musical break, Ross is bored by the article on office talk so his Hot Picks turns quickly into Rant Pants. Looks for our Crampsy merch coming soon and a shout out to our beloved Canadian Girlfriend Daughter!
TMBG DAS: Answer
Happy Tofurkey Day, Space Cadets! In this very disorganized and yet still brand new Sound of Tomorrow, we're gobbling about the War on Thanksgiving and Therapy Speak in the first half of the show. And the second half? Yeah, it's all HOT PICKS!
A reminder: In the immortal words of Celibate Commandos, "It's Thanksgiving / Thanks for what / People die from programs cut / A rich man's holiday it really sucks / It's Thanksgiving / Thanks for WHAT!?"
TMBG DAS: The Cap'm
Space Cadets! While the Favorite Co-Host is away, the Babe with the Power will play..... some music for YOU! The annual holiday mix is coming up soon. Any requests? Drop me a line at jimmyspaceboy@gmail.com or leave me a voicemail at 585-542-5502!
Space Cadets! It's cold out...... so cold..... But there's good news! Ross and I are related after all! He's been doing his ancestry research and it proves it! I knew all along..... BTW--HZ here. Just got in from shoveling. Ai.... BUT! After we have our little family reunion, it's off to the brain races on this week's SoT! Studies show that all kids are equally good at math! None of this "boys are better at math than girls." So take that, all my grade school teachers!
Hey Space Cadets! Just a little special bonus content for y'all! For the third year running, we at the SoT have had the absolute pleasure of teaming up with some of our favorite people ever, the good folx at Almost Tuesday to close out the final hour of the WAYO Fundraiser. To thank you all for your support, I thought it could be fun to post the audio of our loosey-goosey late night Sound of Tuesday/Almost Tomorrow. If nothing else, at least there's proof that Ross and I do actually exist outside the hour from 4-5 on Wednesdays. xoxoH
