It's an icy day in Rochester, NY, but that doesn't stop us from being back with an all new Sound of Tomorrow! We kept on track, miraculously, with a discussion in the first half (ish) about virtue signaling and call-out culture and and clutter/TV talk in half (ish) two! Chris Fanning, I'll be right over to wake up those books for you!
Middle break was "What a Wonderful World" by Major Organ and the Adding Machine. Huzzah!
HZ here! In today's exciting episode, we're banging out of the gates with the unplanned topic of how Rochester has made the national news after a local meteorologist clearly and blatantly uttered a racial slur on live TV! For more on this, here's a link to Chris Thompson's blog post I mentioned: https://540westmain.org/2019/01/09/more-than-one-cockroach-guest-blog-by.... This springboards us into a tax discussion followed by more on PC Culture.
It's a brand new year and the SoT is back in the studio at WAYO! Kicking it off talking about Heather's whacky party traditions and then moving into New Year's resolutions (whaaaaa? We made New Year's resolutions? Well, kind of.), there's a little blip of science news before it's time to hear Happy New Year, Baby by Jo Ann Campbell! We're back in time to talk about grudges for a bit and then Ross breaks his top-of-the-show resolution by bringing in politics. You know we can't help it!
Happy Boxing Day, Space Cadets! In this final SoT of 2018, we're talking about some feedback we (i.e., Heather) received, policing of women's voices, and internalized misogyny! So--business as usually, really. But we lighten it up at the end with a little RuPaul ReCap so all is not lost. Not yet! Happy new year and we'll be back in 2019 with more of the same old SoT nonsense you've grown to know and love! Or not..... <3
Happy holidays, Space Cadets, from all of us here at The Sound of Tomorrow!
Happy Holidays, Space Cadets! As has happened in past years, we're not in the studio today because we're getting all decorated and finishing up the shopping for next week's big Sound of Tomorrow Holiday Spectacular! So, until then, please enjoy our gift to you: a special DJHZ holiday mix! CW: it gets a little maudlin. I'm so sorry. I guess it's just that sometimes *I* get a little maudlin! But y'all knew that already.
Space Cadets! We have a super fun show for you today as actor Brian Barrett joins us in the studio to talk about his fantastic new movie, Book of Evil, available everywhere you get your movies on December 18, 2018! We're also talking animated gifs, acting tips, Heather's violence screen, porn (???) and much much more. For all things Brian Barrett, head on over to http://brianebarrett.com/. Get you those animated gifs. Use them to reply to everything. Your friends will thank you.

Space Cadets, HZ here. So, the record wasn't the thing with the drawing of the naked people on it; the naked people are on the Pioneer Plaques from the Pioneer 10 and 11 launches. So, yeah, I'd been saying a plaque would be less weird! And I was right! BUT--credit where it's due, I'm not the one who just wanted the entire damned Voyager documentary AND bought his husband a replica of the golden record (The Sounds of Earth, it's called, turns out. Have fun building your Crosley replica, extraterrestrials!) so, ummm. ANYWAY! Today we're coming at you with Space News!
Happy Thanksgiving, Space Cadets! In today's very special cornucopia grab bag, Heather's in full critter mode and can't even play her favorite Celibate Commandos Thanksgiving carol and Ross is busy blowing up the internet with his wild talk about how it's actually going to be ok if George R. R. Martin never wraps up that Game of Thrones thing he's been doing! Also: stochastic terrorism and tips for sprucing up your TG feasty festive table! Ughhh....
TMBG DAS: "Dunkin Of Course of Course."
Ah, it's winter, Space Cadets..... BUT--after a brief paeon to the joys of snow and a remembrance of Stan Lee, our little hearts warm up as Betty White joins us in the WAYO studios! Due to contractual obligations, she's unable to actually speak on the air but, wow, she is sooo sweet and we really enjoyed having her there! And she really liked how we were talking about SCIENCE! That's right: we got alien probes, we got Neanderthals, we got Bone Science (Ross! Stop giggling!), and we got the kilogram! Planck challenge, anyone?
